Real People Matter More: Made for NYC

Back at it, Amy Jo always looks "fierce" and I rarely use that word. She seamlessly mixes the tough with the charming, the rocker with the ballerina - here perhaps more acutely than ever. The shirt has rips in it and falls to a perfect length with the "just in case" black bike shorts (a wardrobe staple - I've cut up my fair share of leggings lately because I never use those/always need bike shorts). The hat is her signature pierce and works with pretty much every outfit. Pair that toughness with some knee socks, an oversized pink sweater and some ballet slippers and she looks stunning. Not like she could ever blend in, but her style is one of a kind, eye-catching and pretty much perfect all around.

Wild Child

I was in UO the other day and I started noticing a lot of preppy, school-girl inspired pieces. The baby doll dress of the 90s is definitely in as rompers perhaps shift back a little bit. I know my friends are rocking the bike shorts like no other in an effort to get their dresses/shirts as short as possible. By going short, it makes sense to balance that with a more girlish or "conservative" top and neckline. The peter pan cut necks here are really darling and I love a good polka dot.

Pair your short dress with a pair of socks (ankle or knee - you decide) and a pair of great flats or pumps (again- the choice is yours though I'm on a heel kick...ha).

Fashion is meant to be playful, so make sure you're amply covered in the right places and go run around for a while. Let your inner child out!
